The Adventures of Hermana Patten: Part 8

 Hola hola hola amigos!!

Saturday I hit two months on the mission! Man, does time fly when you're having fun. And this week was absolutely amazing!
- On Tuesdays, we have English class that we go and help out at. This week, we were learning all about food words and cooking words... so our awesome awesome teacher decided we were going to cook! We made orange julius and probably the fluffiest German pancakes / Dutch babies / whatever you want to call them I've ever seen in my life. It was so delicious and fun! Also, Hermana Rivera and I gave the spiritual thought and she made me do the translating to Spanish part... it was terrifying but really good and everyone was really nice about my spotty spanish.
- I went to my first district counsel! I also had to give a training that I'd never even heard of before, so that was cool. However, it was a blast! This spirit was fire and my district is pretty cool. We also went to subway after which was good vibes too.
- okay so we have this thing called Elko Olympics where there's a different challenge every week and all the districts in our zone compete against each other. This week, it was to see who could get the most water bottles! I don't think I've ever drunk so much water in my life. Our stash is pictured below
- WE INVITED SOMEONE TO BE BAPTIZED AND SHE SAID YES AHHH!! It'll still probably be a while because she wants to be a little bit more prepared but I'm so excited!! I love this woman so much and I can't wait for her to experience the joy of the gospel of Christ :)
- We had the most fire member lesson of all time. Everyone was crying at the end and ahhh it was just so good. We also made agua fresca and sugar toast stuff that was delicious as well.
- We got to help at a back to school carnival! Me and Hermana Rivera ran the pie into your face booth and it was an absolute party.
- We had exchanges this week!! So much fun, so much door knocking, a quilting club with delicious chilly, and many many miracles. The Lord's timing truly is the best timing... we stopped by one of the other sister's friend's houses and he wasn't home, but we felt prompted to keep knocking doors in his neighborhood. No one answered so we were a little bit like... huh why did we get that prompting?? But THEN we walked back past his house and his car was there! We were able to talk to him and share a message and it was really really good.
- The weather is loco !! It went from 100+ degrees to raining and flooding and back again within the span of about 24 hours. Crazy talk!!
Spiritual thought for this week: "Don’t give up. Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead—a lot of it... You keep your chin up. It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come."
-Jeffrey R. Holland
I'm just gonna add my voice to Elder Holland's really quick... don't give up!! Good things are coming and even if things are hard right now, keep trusting. God is with us always and everything is going to work out :)
Remember God loves you!!
