The Adventures of Hermana Patten: Part 1

 Hola hola hola amigos!!

This week has been so amazing and I can already tell that serving a mission is the best decision I've ever made. I am absolutely VIBING as a missionary.
The week started off with a miracle. I tested positive for COVID! Now, before you mock me to scorn... this was exactly what I had been praying for. Last week before I started my mission, my mom tested positive for COVID. I started praying that I would either get COVID right away, or I wouldn't get it at all. And then my prayers were answered! And, as it turns out, this was perfect timing too because I can still have my farewell on schedule AND I won't be sick by the time it's time to go to Mexico. The tender mercies of the Lord are great :)
My companion and my district are awesome. I'm in awe of how much everyone's language skills have progressed already in the 5 short days we've been together!! And wow, I just have to say, the gift of tongues is REAL. Spanish from like seventh grade is coming back to me and things I thought I had forgotten are definitely being brought to my remembrance. It's so cool!!
Thought of the Week: "If you want to know anything, you will have to do something." -Sister Craven
A lot of you might hear more about this tomorrow when I give my farewell talk, but this gospel is a gospel of doing. The Lord commands us to be "doers of the word, and not hearers only" (James 1:22). I know that as we take action, and put in meaningful effort to do the things the Lord has asked of us, we can strengthen our relationships with him and be able to follow the promptings of the Spirit so much better.
I love you all so so much!! Have the best week ever and remember that God loves you!!
Love,
Hermana Patten
